The HR Generalist-Staffing & Development role will assist in the efficient operation of the internal Human Resources services including a strong focus in staffing and development along with providing quality HR administrative, compliance and project support to the HR and leadership team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field preferred, and/or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of HR Generalist work experience; preferred focus in staffing or recruiting
  • A self-starter with initiative and strong customer/client orientation; ability to facilitate discussions to resolve issues, obtain consensus, and drive to conclusion
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with current Health, Life, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability (LTD), Short Term Disability (STD) and additional ancillary products
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with federal and state benefit regulations
  • Must have a high level of organization, emphasis on multi-tasking, and ability to manage multiple projects on a simultaneous basis
  • Must have high degree of respect for confidentiality
  • Ability to earn and maintain trust along with excellent relationship management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to run and/or participate in an effective meeting, using listening, reasoning and articulate communication skills
  • Must hold (or is actively pursuing) professional designation and must hold State insurance license

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, mobile devices – phones/tablets, photocopier, scanners, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Travel
This position requires minimal travel – up to 10%. When travel is necessary, it is generally outside of the local area in a range up to 4 hours from headquarters.

Staffing:

  • Enhance internal Hiring Process for interns, recent graduates and seasoned professionals
  • Lead the enhancement and execution of a recruiting plan for each open position
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting
  • Schedule and assist with phone screens and interviews
  • Build and maintain staffing spreadsheet
  • Check employment references
  • Conduct background screenings
  • Assist in preparing Job Offer letters
  • Assist in preparing Org announcements for New Hires
  • Schedule Indiana State Health/Life License Class
  • Setup New Hire in internal systems
  • Assign appropriate credentials to new team members
  • Prepare for New Hire Orientation – PowerPoint / Binder
  • Schedule HIPAA Training and Health Plan Navigation Course
  • Assist in collecting all new hire appropriate forms – I9, W4, Direct Deposit, etc.
  • Assist in creation of formalized onboarding training for all roles within the organization
  • Maintain JA Career Site
  • Maintain Culture Index site

Benefits:

  • Setup Benefit meeting with New Hire
  • Assist in setting up new hires into benefits and coordinate with payroll
  • Ensure employees receive ID cards, carrier info, etc.
  • Assist in Open Enrollment setup and process
  • Audit monthly benefit billings
  • Assist in Worker’s compensation audit

Other:

  • Day-to-day HR administration support
  • Update Employee Handbook and associated policies, as necessary
  • Organize and maintain HR Box folders
  • Assist in maintaining Job Descriptions
  • Maintain JA Magic Lifelong Learning program
  • Develop and maintain HR compliance knowledge
  • Work with marketing team to rebrand HR materials and communications
